This year you may have set goals such as getting a promotion, a new job, starting a new side hustle. However, success isn’t a linear path, we have to consider things might not go our way. We need to persevere and dig deep in moments of setbacks.
Dodging a bullet
We need to realise sometimes you’re good enough, but the job isn’t the right opportunity or fit for you. Take a step back and realise people are doing you a favour by not throwing you into a team that doesn’t match your goals, your aims, your personality or skill set. They’ve just saved you so much misery and pain, we already have to deal with so much of this as an adult. Take a step back and think, what can I learn from this opportunity, with a growth mindset?Downward spiralsLife is already difficult. Imagine being thrown into a team that isn’t the right fit for you, you’re completely out of your depth, the work you’re doing doesn’t align to what you believe in as a person or matches your aims or goals of what you want from your job. You’re getting 0 fulfilment from your job. This only results in a negative downward spiral that doesn’t end well for not only yourself, but the people around. Whether that is your family, friends or teammates, it doesn’t help anyone if you're in a depressive negative state.

It’s so important to find the right fit when it comes to a job, you spend the majority of your day and week working, so it’s super important to make sure you have a great match. It’s so easy to get caught and focus on things that we don’t have, spending so much of our time and energy thinking about things that we could potentially have, yet we turn blind to being grateful for all the cool and amazing things we’ve got already!
